How We Operate

We Are a Non-Profit Organization

The Blue Quill Community League is a registered Alberta non-profit society.  We strive to return all funds raised back into the community by way of program offerings.  We apply for municipal, provincial and federal grants, and rely on these and volunteers to help keep things running

Our Mission

The Blue Quill Community League strives to provide a sense of community, and to enhance the quality of life in the greater Blue Quill Community by providing: facilities for community use; excellent social, recreational and cultural programs; and focused advocacy efforts

We Operate Within a Tripartite Agreement

The Blue Blue Quill Community League, the City of Edmonton, and the Province of Alberta operate within a signed Tripartite (3-way) Agreement, which outlines responsibilities of each party

We Are a Member of the EFCL

Like other communities within the City, the Blue Blue Quill Community League is a member of the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL), which is an umbrella organization representing and advocating on behalf of community leagues to the City of Edmonton.  You can find out more about the EFCL here.

Board Structure

We have board meetings on the third Thursday of each month.  Usually it is a 2 hour meeting.

Our fiscal year runs from September 1st to August 31st.  Shortly after (in Oct or Nov), we hold our Annual General Meeting (usually about 2-3 hours).  During this meeting we discuss our financial operations, activities, and strive to recruit new board members.

Each Director’s position runs for 2 years, with half coming to term every other year.  In addition, we have several paid employees over the course of a year:

  • League Administrator
  • Handyman
  • Rink, Tennis and summer workers
  • Cleaners
