Community Champion Volunteer – Position Profile
Fresh Routes Community Champion Volunteers are responsible for supporting Route
Operators in the operation of the Fresh Routes’ Mobile Grocery Store. This includes
assisting with setting-up, operations during the market, and cleaning up afterwards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
〉 Complete the Fresh Routes Volunteer Onboarding and Training process
〉 Arrives before the Mobile Grocery Store to assist the Route Operator with
unloading food and supplies from the truck and setting up the Mobile Grocery
Store
〉 Accurately and efficiently manages the point-of-sale system during the Mobile
Grocery Store
〉 Restocks bins with food and ensures that displays look appealing for customers
during the Mobile Grocery Store
〉 Builds and maintains positive relationships with customers attending the Mobile
Grocery Store, communicating the mission of Fresh Routes
〉 Greets customers, answers their questions and provides assistance as needed
〉 Assists the Route Operator with the take-down and clean-up of the Mobile
Grocery Store once it ends
QUALIFICATIONS
〉 Customer service driven with a strong affinity for helping others;
〉 Experience engaging with marginalized people and people of diverse
cultures and abilities in a community-based setting;
〉 Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop relationships and
communicate effectively with a wide range of people of diverse social and
cultural backgrounds;
〉 Takes initiative and demonstrates ownership and exceptional follow-through.
〉 Enthusiastic team player with an ability to work both independently and
collaboratively
〉 Charismatic and socially-focused individual with in interest in making genuine
connections;
〉 Physical stamina to meet demands of on-site event execution (being on feet
for long hours, lifting, etc.)
〉 Extremely dependable and feel comfortable working in a fast-paced
environment
OTHER ROLE REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
〉 Able to commit to volunteering on a regular basis (minimum of two times per
month) for at least 4 month
〉 Able to routinely lift up to 40lbs
BENEFITS TO VOLUNTEERS
〉 Volunteers will receive a Fresh Routes credit of up to $20 to spend on fresh
produce at the Mobile Grocery Store after every shift
This list is not exhaustive, and the post holder may be required to carry out additional
tasks as directed.
