Having safe, reliable utility services is a critical part of day-to-day life in our community. To ensure systems are in place and well maintained, EPCOR will be undertaking a major project in Sweet Grass and five neighbouring communities.
The current Duggan sanitary tunnel services neighbourhoods in southwest Edmonton and has been identified for replacement. This will see construction of a new sanitary sewer tunnel to service neighbourhoods from Steinhauer up to Bonnie Doon.
The tunnel will be approximately 37-metres below the surface, with the alignment running under 111 Street from Saddleback Road/29A Avenue, turning east and continuing along 34 Avenue, and then north under 106 Street to just past L.Y. Cairns School. Work will begin in March 2023 with anticipated completion by the end of 2024. There is one worksite in Sweet Grass planned on 111 Street at Saddleback Road which is scheduled to start in fall 2023.
