2021 community garden update

Our first community-funded pilot garden was an incredible success! Thank you to all of our gardeners who planted and tended their gardens this summer through both heat waves and pandemic waves. Despite all the challenges of another pandemic summer, the community garden was a place where gardeners came together to help water and tend to each other’s garden plots. Kids were excited to grow their own vegetables and put their own creative mark on the garden with the chalkboard garden signs.

Thank you to all of our amazing community volunteers who helped to set up the garden in May, to mow and trim the garden area throughout the summer, and to tend the Food Bank plot. Through all of your hard work we were able to make several donations to the Edmonton Food Bank!

The Blue Quill Community Garden Committee is preparing for construction of the permanent community garden that is scheduled to begin in Spring 2022. Please visit us at www.bqcl.org/community-gardens/ to keep up to date with our plans and upcoming fundraisers.
