call for canada day volunteers

The Blue Quill Community League has started plans for our community’s Canada Day celebration complete with children’s activities, music, food trucks, a beer garden and, of course, fireworks!

In order to make this a successful event we need community members like you who are willing to help.

The following positions are available for the event:

Bartenders

To help us to maintain the flow of the event, provide alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to event guests, physical distancing, and cleanliness during the event. The is a key role in ensuring smooth and safe operating of beverage service. The ideal person is friendly, outgoing, and has excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Greeting guests
  • Clean and clear tables during slower periods
  • Assist with set up and tear down (depending on shift start time)
  • Be reliable in attendance at programs, as scheduled.
  • Individuals interested in this position must have a valid Pro-Serve

Children’s Activities Crew

Assist BQCL board with the creation and implementation of Canada Day activities geared towards families and children. Volunteers are needed to supervise activities, interact in games, and ensure a safe and fun environment is maintained. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Interact and communicate with staff, parents, children/youth, fellow volunteers and the community, at large, in a positive and professional manner.
  • Conduct self in a manner befitting the positive image
  • Be reliable in attendance at programs, as scheduled. 

Set Up / Tear down Crew

Assist BQCL board with setting up and/or takedown for Canada Day activities and overall supervision of the day’s events to ensure a safe and fun environment is maintained. The Team will also need to be familiar with the day’s programs to ensure accurate information is providing to guests.

Responsibilities include:

  • Interact and communicate with staff, parents, children/youth, fellow volunteers and the community, at large, in a positive and professional manner.
  • Conduct self in a manner befitting the positive image
  • Assist with set up and tear down (depending on shift start time)
  • Be reliable in attendance at programs, as scheduled.
